Kingsbridge and Salcombe 2nd team headed to Dawlish once again for their third fixture of the season — this time facing a determined Teignmouth side.
The home team started strongly, finding the net early to Kingsbridge’s dismay. However, the visitors’ spirits remained high, and their persistence soon paid off when Darcey found the back of the net in the 12th minute after a fabulous assist from Emma.
Kingsbridge kept the pressure on, and Emma was unstoppable — scoring twice more, once in the 22nd minute with the ball seemingly glued to her stick, and again in the 30th minute from a well-worked short corner. JL added to the tally with a powerful short corner strike in the 41st minute.
There was fantastic play throughout the midfield from Freya, Julie, and Poppy, who worked tirelessly to move the ball through to the forwards. Unfortunately, the team suffered a setback when Nicky took a hit to the foot and had to come off during the first half — wishing her a speedy recovery!
At the back, Sophie once again put in a brilliant performance, making several crucial saves to keep Kingsbridge ahead.
The well-deserved Player of the Match award went to Emma for her outstanding goals and relentless energy.
It was a thrilling contest that ended in a 4–3 victory to Kingsbridge — a true display of determination, teamwork, and fighting spirit. It’s clear the 2s are in it to win it this season!
